Clerk: Chelsea will not loan westbrom Lukaku next next

Chelsea look set to give in-form Romelu Lukaku the chance to claim a first-team spot next season. The Belgium international struggled at Stamford Bridge last season, but has hit 13 goals in a successful loan spell at West Brom this term. Lukaku, still only 19, would like to stay at the Hawthorns, but Albion admit they are resigned to him returning to the Blues. Boss Steve Clarke said: “He is Chelsea’s player. He belongs to Chelsea and he will go back there in the summer. “I have never thought it would be possible Chelsea would let him come back next season. He came on a season-long loan and we’re grateful we got him.”

MANCHESTER UNITED have entered the race to sign CSKA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa

The Nigeria international has this month been linked with Premier League rivals Leicester, who are thought to have had rejected their £15.1million opening bid. CSKA are reportedly holding out for at least £18.9m for the pacey striker, who has 10 goals to his name this term. The Foxes are expected to up their bid before the January window expires, but now face competition from United for the 23-year-old's services. Didier Deschamps has emerged as a shock contender to be the next   Chelsea manager. The current France coach will lead the host nation into this summer’s Euros but his contract expires after the tournament. Blues owner   Roman Abramovich   is determined to appoint a new boss who can offer a long-term strategy. The Russian billionaire has been forced to bring in short-term replacements like Guus Hiddink, Rafa Benitez and Avram Grant in recent seasons.
