Manchester City to sign Vardy - Report

Manchester City are reportedly looking to seal the transfer of a big-name striker ahead of the arrival of Pep Guardiola.

In-form Leicester striker Jamie Vardy is apparently a top target for director of football Txiki Begiristain, according to the Daily Telegraph

Although the Foxes will be keen to keep hold of their prolific marksman, City will try to raise funds for the deal by letting the under-performing Wilfried Bony leave for around £20million.

The report adds that Yaya Toure’s future may also be in doubt if Guardiola joins, with the player’s agent recently criticising the Spaniard.

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller has also been on City’s radar, though he is unlikely to follow his manager to the Etihad in the summer.

The Nigeria international has this month been linked with Premier League rivals Leicester, who are thought to have had rejected their £15.1million opening bid. Didier Deschamps has emerged as a shock contender to be the next   Chelsea manager. The current France coach will lead the host nation into this summer’s Euros but his contract expires after the tournament.
